Jackson is a city in Butts County, Georgia, United States. The city is the county seat of Butts County. Jackon’s population was 5,045 at the 2010 census, up from 3,934 at the 2000 census.
During the 20th century, Jackson became a center for textile mills. Interstate 75 runs adjacent to the West side of Butts County. Jackson is located in the center of Butts County and is 46 miles southeast of downtown Atlanta. Jackson has a total area of 6.3 square miles.
The racial makeup of the city was 53.71% White, 44.26% African American, 0.20% Native American, 0.43% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.33% from other races, and 1.04% from two or more races as of the 2000 census. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.27% of the population.
